This retrofit was the first install of an LED interior lighting system on a light rail passenger vehicle in North America. Retrofitting all Calgary’s Siemens SD-100 and SD-160 cars with LED lighting.

Over 4,300 tubes have been installed in the Calgary Transit since the inception of the project.

The initial lights have been in service since 2008. Annual testing of the lights within the car showed only a lumen reduction of 7% in the first 5 years.
