From 2013, RTA of the Greater Cleveland Area updated their 40 light rail cars. Reducing their carbon footprint by 30.7 tonnes per year.

An initial install, starting in 2013, the city of Cleveland installed 1320 lamp retrofit to LED Smart light rail lighting series on 40 of their Tokyu light rail vehicles.


When tested against the previous fluorescent tubes that were installed, LED Smart’s LED lighting matched or exceeded the previous fluorescent lighting levels. GCRTA has been able to successfully save 214.9 tonnes of carbon since the initial install.*
